San Diego Release

 

The ServiceNow San Diego release brings many new features and enhancements to the platform.  Here are the top 5 new features we think you need to know about:

#1 It’s all about the new UI

The new User Interface (UI) ‘Next Experience’ drops in a new and fresh look packed with features. Drop-down menus are positioned at the top of the UI instead of pinned on the left-hand side.  Individual users have more personalisation options that include being able to pin the menu back to the left-hand side or pin the favourites list.  When planning for your upgrade, the Next Experience needs to be activated. It will require some additional organisational change management time to build a comfort level with your users and any training collateral that will need to be refreshed.

#2 Order Guide Sequencing

If you have order guides configured in your service catalog the chances are you have a custom solution in place to allow you to sequence the RITM’s.  A new plugin ‘Order Guide Sequential Fulfillment’ solves this challenge that has existed for many years and is part of the base platform.  If you don’t have the Process Automation Designer (PAD), you’ll need that plugin to be activated too.

#3 Flow Diagramming

This one is for low-code developers who will find the flow logic easier to read as it presents along the lines of a flow chart. There is a toggle in flow designer to switch between the regular and the flow views – if you can’t see the toggle, check that the ‘Flow Diagramming’ plugin is activated. 

#4 Automation Engine

In San Diego the Robotic Process Automation (RPA) Hub has been combined with Integration Hub to become ‘Automation Engine’ providing a complete hyperautomation capability. You can now connect the ServiceNow application to any 3rd party application that may not have an API or other means of interacting with systems, or you can automate manual repetitive actions.

#5 Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Solution

Designed to support the increasing scope, scale, and pace of ESG initiatives in all sizes of organisations. Integrates with Integrated Risk Management and Strategic Portfolio Management products to provide an end-to-end solution for planning, managing, governing, and reporting on ESG impacts.
